It's too late for this year but next year, is the answer --
Do not wear a scarf for evening services, with the exception of Erev Yom Kippur. However, if the Conservative or Orthodox synagogue, you can bring your tallit before Maariv on Erev Rosh Hashanah, and leave in the morning so you have it on Yom Tov.
Edit to Alonyoav I refer to him, but with all due respect, one wonders if vary minhag? In our synagogue as a child, everyone wore his tallit bags at the synagogue on Erev Rosh Hashana (and Kol Nidre) and then overnight. When I think now, our rabbi was wearing nothing on Shabbat or Yom Tov, and religious articles.
